Nightly activities make sleep impossible

Liked:Properly equipped and maintained hostel

Disliked:I booked two nights at this hostel and was assigned a bed in Room 2 on the ground floor. The room consists of two sections with a total of 16 beds. The windows face a part of the hostel’s courtyard, where a small covered deck has been built right beneath them. This deck serves as a common area and is furnished accordingly (see photo 1). Because the deck is situated right against the building's wall, the bedroom windows have effectively become part of the deck structure (see photo 2); consequently, whatever happens on the deck directly impacts privacy inside the bedroom. The hostel management ought to be—and surely is—aware of this. Every night during my stay, the deck became a venue for late-night "social" gatherings. Participants spent the entire night—well into the early hours—engaged in loud, raucous, and mindless conversation while clearly consuming alcohol, such as beer (see photo 2). All of this took place right outside the bedroom windows. It made sleep completely impossible for us guests in that room, and this lack of nightly rest made my planned activities in Bucharest impossible to carry out. I tried speaking to the partying group in the hope of getting them to change their behavior, but I was met with a complete lack of understanding. Such an incredible lack of respect and indifference toward guests' most basic need—a good night's sleep—should never be tolerated, yet it seems the hostel management simply does not consider it worth caring about. 10:00 PM is the international standard for "quiet hours" in hotels, when loud activities and disruptive noise must cease. Hostel Sport chooses to ignore this. PS. Just a few meters from the deck stands a table that serves as an extension of the partying taking place on the deck. (See photo 3; note the bottle left behind on the table.)

Good value but you get what you pay for

Liked:The owner/staff were helpful and friendly. The place had big rooms and showering facilities and the location was great. I didn't need to use public transport at all,just walking everywhere.

Disliked:There are people "living" there in some of the rooms, so they put their personal items everywhere and make it feel cluttered. The kitchen was always crowded, and at times messy. Although there are outdoor spaces, I didn't like using them because there is no "no smoking" area and EVERYBODY smokes all day, and I don't, so hard to escape breathing this in. Every hostel has pluses and minuses and if you are trying to save money this place is good value.

Liked:Stayed here for one night, everything was okay for me. I arrived late in the night, the reception lady Valentina make the check in process very smooth and easy for me. She was really accommodating and helping and even let me kept my bag in the hostel later in the day. So definitely recommended and worth the stay.
