Refreshing and proper hotel that is great value for money for 3 people family

Liked:Everything. Located in a area with lots of restaurants. Staff are very helpful. Aircon is quiet and bed is comfortable. However if you like the funky aide of berlin which is north of the city then you will have to hop on the train. Not much trouble.

Disappointing. The elevator on the floor was defective; the room was freezing cold in the night.

Liked:This was not my first time at the hotel for a business trip and I chose it due to the convenient location and availability of public transport. The staff was polite

Disliked:I was astonished by the fact that this time as opposed to the previous visits it was impossible to use the elevator on the floor due to a malfunction. It hasn’t been reported to me prior to my arrival that there has been a malfunction, so I had to use stairs to get to one of the other floor notwithstanding a knee problem. I have reported it to the staff and nothing has been done to solve it. Moreover, I was located at the end of the corridor with steps that made it impossible to carry the luggage. Furthermore, the room was freezing cold and the air conditioning hasn‘t worked (end of August) so that not only that it made it nearly impossible to sleep (when the temperature outside was 13 degrees and inside not far from that), but I also had to use 2 blankets and a couple of layers of clothes which has never happened to me anywhere and I travel quite a lot. The bar was closed so I couldn’t even order a cup of tee which was highly disappointing. The bathroom wasn’t perfectly clean. It seems that all the advantages that I have noticed during my previous visits have been sadly eliminated, within a relatively short period of time. Truly disappointing. It appears to be now definitely not a 4 stars hotel as it used to be

Liked:Enjoyed my stay at the Mercure. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. My room was spacious, clean and had great amenities including water, fridge, safe, kettle with a good selection of teas and coffee. They even came each day to check if I needed more water or teas. The accommodation is a short train into Berlin city centre or if you are like me and like to get your steps in, you could walk through Tiergarten which is beautiful. There are restaurants and cafés close by, would highly recommend Grapery for fresh and delicious food, and a free ATM withdrawal on the right-hand side across the road from the hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Disliked:everything was great value for money.
