Liked:Location.

Disliked:Coffee...not the French way. Cups do not hold the heat. Too many stairs from the 3rd floor to the lower floor...replace the carpet on the stairs for this steep staircase.

Amazing historic hotel, but unbearably hot!

Liked:Hôtel Abbaye de Maizières is a really special hotel. The location is fantastic, the building is beautiful and historic, and it’s full of quirky little features that give it loads of character. The staff were also genuinely friendly and welcoming. They are welcoming to dogs too. Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom, while very historic in style, was lovely. Unfortunately, the heat in the room completely ruined the experience for us. It was honestly the hottest hotel room we have ever stayed in and none of us (we had 2 rooms) slept at all. There was an old air-conditioning unit, but it was almost useless, and the fan in the room was broken. Such a shame, because everything else about the hotel was excellent and we really wanted to love it. With effective air conditioning, this could easily have been a 5-star stay.
