Wonderful stay for our family

Liked:This resort is full of amenities and fun for all ages. Golf and great food for the adults, amazing pool and evening hot chocolate for the kids. We hope to make this a regular winter trip for our family. The only thing I wish was that there was more dining options but with many options in the neighborhood, we left the resort for dinner a couple of times.

I will not be coming back - a very painful experience.

Liked:What a total disaster - do not stay here anywhere close to high season. We were here for one night post cruise with my two kids (9 and 11) and my parents. We checked in at 9 am and didn’t get a room until 7 pm. I had high hopes for this property, but I can unequivocally say we will not be back. After an early morning check-in, we were told we would get a text when the room is ready. So, we went to the water park at about 10:30 am. It was near impossible to find 4 chairs at this point. I finally found some and then was reprimanded by the towel guy for not waiting for an attendant (what attendant, there were no when we walked in. How would we have know we needed to wait?). We ordered food early, half of the order came. The other half the server had to hunt down. Everything was so crowded with only 1/2 of their women’s bathrooms working. 1 set was totally closed, the other had one overflowing toilet, two others without toilet paper and two functioning stalls. Multiple people reported this issue to management over several hours and nothing was done. By 3:45 I hadn’t received a text about my room, despite the ap showing a 2:30 checkin time, so I went to the lobby. It was total chaos. A line of people 30 deep, children camped out with their families in corners, luggage everywhere. I finally spoke to Adam, who tried his best to find us a room but at 4 pm he acknowledged that housekeeping was behind and it would probably be another hour before our room was ready. Keep in mind, I had two wet pool kids with me who needed to get cleaned up. He was very professional and did offer to comp part of our stay. 2 hours later I still had not received a text, so I sent a chat message to the property checking on status. Only then was I told the room was ready. I never got a text. So, back I went to the lobby, which was worse than the last time. Children melting down so loudly (I assume because their family was in the same position as us), that I could barely hear the front desk clerk. It was absolute bedlam. A woman at the pool that day had warned me of her similar experience the day before. To their credit the front desk staff stayed clam and professional, but wow. I don’t know how they do that every day. Once we got to our room, we quickly realized that we were next to where staff leaves all of the room service dishes to be collected. I couldn’t figure out why it sounded like a kitchen next door, until I poked my head out to find an employee stacking a huge collection of glassware and dishes to return to the kitchen. The same thing happened in the morning. See pic. Our room had a golf course view but in front of it was a service entrance where backup car alerts went well into the night. Coupled with our location next to the elevator, we got minimal sleep. And the bathtub was woefully dirty. Avoid 3-137. Overall, I was grateful we were only there for one night. We will not be back.

Not a 5 star anymore

Liked:One needs to compare apples to apples. Comparing a "5 star" to a 4 star or less is unfair. I've stayed at the St. Regis Bal Harbour and Ritz Carlton properties to compare fairly. I don't think it's a correct assessment to say they're 5 star though--I'd say 4-4 1/2 but used to be 5. All the fancy cars on the property might make you think otherwise, as would the prices. It's definitely a place for the upper class to stay. I think that while the resort fee covers some good amenities such as the water park, a discount on the spa ($50 for the day), and other things that were unclear when I checked in at the VIP check in for Platinum or higher and those checking in thru the Edit (thru the Chase travel portal) such as the driving range (the one checking us in was unsure) as I was directed to ask someone else--maybe bikes--anyone checking you in needs to know these things. The resort fee with taxes is just over $70 per day, which includes two passes to the waterpark. Highlights: Generally a beautiful and impressive property as expected overall Checking in thru VIP check in was impressive but when busy, would not be worth the wait An upgrade with status and availability Lowlights Being booted out by 11am the day of check out. The cleaner was ringing the room doorbell at 10:55. Going on a long weekend is a mistake for one day. While you can get into the waterpark early the day of but will need to use their waterpark change rooms. When checking in early, with many rooms not slept in the previous night (there was plenty of availability the previous night) don't expect the convenience of having a room ready for you. They found us a room with someone who had an "early" late checkout of 1pm rather than an empty room but the room was still not ready until after 2:30 by text. So you're thinking that with so many granted late checkouts the day you check in, that someone with lifetime Platinum status would get it upon request for the day they checkout? Not when they are mostly out of that particular type of room. Then you're relegated to changing in the waterpark change room. So in other words, everyone got late checkout the day I checked in but they would not offer me the same courtesy. Not impressed. Mentioned a birthday was connected to the stay, and they called to ask permission to drop off a treat, which was really nice-but when told we keep kosher so don't bother but thanks anyways because I was sure they would not accommodate, they dropped off the treat we couldn't have anyways. The property is beginning to show signs of wear and tear-the elevator experience was they're very slow and one did not have the floor display screen functioning. The elevator button also looked worn as did one of the outlets in the room which didn't function. In a Jewish area, kosher options for breakfasts and at VIP check-in would have be thoughtful. This is not a Boise hotel--kosher options should be easy enough to get if the will is there. Don't lose your Waterpark receipt as the replacement cost is $300 (read the fineprint)! They cannot associate the paper pass with a specific stay and with ID so that it could be replaced for free easily? Would I come back? No. I'd rather stay at the Residence Inn Aventura, across the street. I think they need to be more thoughtful, knowledgeable, and do some renos.
