Liked:I had an excellent stay at the Bridge House offered by SWEETS Hotel. The setting is absolutely incredible: the accommodation is located right next to a bridge that regularly opens to let boats pass through, with the Hortus Botanical Garden just beside it. It really feels like being close to nature while still staying right in the heart of Amsterdam. Inside, you have everything you could need, with all the amenities you would expect from a hotel. The accommodation is non-smoking, but it has a large terrace that is perfect for having a drink and enjoying the surroundings. One funny little detail: you should not be too shy! Between the sightseeing boats passing along the canal and the people crossing the bridge, you are quite visible from outside. A lot of people could see me, but in the end it made the experience even more unique and amusing. The location is also very convenient and extremely well connected. The tram stop is right next to the accommodation, and the metro is also very close, making it easy to get around the city. Getting there from the train station or even from the airport is therefore no problem at all. I would also like to thank SWEETS Hotel again for their kind gesture. Because there were construction works on the canal during my stay, they offered me free tickets to the botanical garden as compensation, which I really appreciated. A unique, comfortable and memorable experience that I would definitely recommend.

Exceedingly disappointing.

Liked:If it hadn’t been for the canal works the location would have been great. I like the idea of repurposing old quirky buildings.

Disliked:The property did not contain one piece of comfortable furniture and the facilities were woefully inadequate. Having travelled for months each year in a small but well thought out motorhome we are used to living small but this accommodation was poorly planned. We had booked for three nights but we left after one night & found alternative accommodation that had comfortable chairs, a mattress that we could sleep on & a well thought out little kitchenette with all of the facilities that we could want. The location was good but due to the current canal wall repairs was spoilt by being surrounded by barges full of sludge and feeling as though you were in the middle of a construction zone. While I know that this is not the fault of the owners I do think that we should have been warned and thereby given the option to choose different accommodation.

A memorable stay, in a great location by a thoughtful company.

Liked:All the amenities worked really well and were super easy to figure out. The hand written message and customer service felt really personal and thoughtful. The half cover for the windows is a great touch for some added privacy during the day.
