A Quiet Evening by the Canal

Liked:My stay at the Hilton Amsterdam was brief, as I was visiting the city for business and only passed through for a night. Still, the restaurant by the water and its evening view left a lasting impression. The outdoor terrace is particularly beautiful. From there you can quietly watch the canal flowing beside the hotel. The atmosphere felt calm and almost contemplative, very much in keeping with Amsterdam’s understated charm. The room itself was neat and comfortably aligned with the Hilton standard. One detail I particularly appreciated was the desk in the room. For someone traveling on business it was surprisingly practical. I often need to spread out quite a number of documents while working, and the desk provided more than enough space to do so comfortably. It felt almost like having a small office in Amsterdam, which I found very satisfying.

Looking forward to the reno

Liked:I stayed two evenings just before the hotel closed for renovations on the 23November. I believe it will reopen in 2027 or 2028. I enjoyed the stay and it seemed quite nice overall even though it is about to undergo a major renovation. I had lounge access which was alright, food options were limited for evening, but the breakfast was great in the main breakfast / restaurant. The gym was large but is not owned by the hotel so you had to navigate some logistics if you wanted access when the gym was no longer open (closed early afternoon weekends). The hvac system in the room didnt work properly but the hotel got me in room heater and a fan. Windows could open but I had to get them unlocked by maintenance. There was a bit of drama at check out , I had requested a late check out which was granted to two pm (I got this in at check in), but at 1230 the staff started harassing me to get out in spite of my late check out and the keying of my key card in the system. I was given ten minutes to clear out and the situation was really unpleasant. I voiced my concern at check out and the GM made things right by me and apologized. It was a very unusual circumstance but in the end it was handled well. I hope to come back when the hotel reopens!

Never return or recommend Hilton Amsterdam, very poor experience!

Liked:good location.
Disliked:For a 5-star hotel, it is disappointing not to have slippers or a bathrobe. The towels are so thin that after one use they are already too wet to be used a second time. There are no other essential bathroom amenities, and there is no complimentary bottle of water in the room. Breakfast included tomatoes that were not fresh and the coffee was of poor quality. Overall, we will not recommend or return to this hotel in Amsterdam. We are usually loyal Hilton customers, but in Amsterdam we will not return to this location.
